Luxury accommodation in Nozawa Onsen
Kihachikan North & Kihachikan South are luxurious, calm and elegant chalets which can be let as a whole or separately. They are located in the heart of the village of Nozawa Onsen, Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
The interiors blend Japanese style with western tastes.
The recent refurbishment focussed on working with local tradespeople. The book shelves, benches, tables and several of the beds were handmade across the valley in Togari. The kitchens, chairs and bedroom furniture were designed and hand built in Nagano. All are made from Japanese woods.
THE ACCOMMODATION
Kihachikan can be leased as a whole or as two chalets. The combined accommodation can house up to fifteen people.
Kihachikan North is designed for families and larger groups. It has four ensuite bedrooms (including a bunk bed room) with an expansive open plan living and dining area. The main dining table can seat 16. The open plan kitchen and two larders have been designed to cater for a full house. Kihachikan North can comfortably sleep 10 adults.
Kihachikan South is for families, couples or individuals. It has a lovely open plan kitchen and living room with a pellet stove and a Japanese oak bespoke kitchen. The large light filled bath and shower room is beautiful. Kihachickan South features three bedrooms and two bathrooms and can accommodate five adults.

During our recent makeover, our main focus was on partnering with local artisans, ensuring an authentic touch of craftsmanship and heritage. The results are truly something special. Immerse yourself in the welcoming atmosphere, where skilled artisans from the nearby Togari valley have handcrafted bookshelves, benches, tables, and even beds, each with its own unique story, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Our kitchens, chairs, and bedroom furniture were thoughtfully designed and lovingly hand-built in Nagano, using the finest Japanese woods. The outcome is a harmonious blend of elegance and functionality, where every nook exudes a sense of warmth and comfort.
